Originally from Romania, Ondina is both an artist and engineer. Her work lies at the intersection of art and technology, between imaginary and possible. Prior to joining the MIT Media Lab, Ondina worked as an Associate Director – Data Visualization Engineer at Merck. She received the Merck Global Health Fellowship 2021, where she developed a patient registry for the Rare Diseases of South Africa NGO.
Ondina is a graduate alumna of NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Her project “Fibonacci Galaxy” was invited to participate at the World Science Festival 2016 in New York City. Ondina was awarded the NYU Provost Global Research Fellowship to do research at the Tel Aviv University in Computational Design and Neuroscience in the summer of 2016.
At MIT CCC, she focuses on data visualizations and telling stories using data. Ondina lives in the Bay Area with her husband and kids. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, reading and hiking.
