Brandon Roy

Head of Applied Research

I am a research scientist at the Center for Constructive Communication, with a background in machine learning and cognitive science. Since joining CCC I’ve focused on network analysis, with a particular interest in how networks reflect and shape human communication and social structures. I’ve been doing this work as part of the StoryLine and HealthPULSE projects. I also enjoy supporting and collaborating with students on their research. Previously, I led a data science team at Twitter focused on modeling and understanding user interests and behavior. I received my Ph.D. at the Media Lab in the Cognitive Machines group, advised by Deb. I am also an advisor to Cortico.

My main hobbies these days are projects with my kids, getting in over my head with home renovations, and (very slowly) learning guitar.
